Creme De La Creme

Hello everyone! On the 25th of September I was invited to the “la Creme de la Creme” event hosted by Cniel, the French dairy association. The event consisted of a live cooking show that showcased the prominence and importance of cream in the French cuisine stressing on the benefits of using French cream to whip up your creamy delicacies. On a related topic, the import of french cream has increased by 13% in the last year! The event was held at the Miele Gallery in Sama Tower. It was so exciting to watch the magic happen with the beautiful dessert dishes that were provided.

The live cooking was presented by two prominent French chefs. Chef Valentin Neraudeau is a young chef with an early start at cooking as he has been raised into it by his family. Valentin now runs three restaurants in Toulouse as well as his newly opened location “Bermuda Onion” and after watching (and volunteering to help) him prepare his exquisite “matcha green tea cake with yuzu, as a lime tiramisu, exotic chutney and creamy ganache” and giving it a try (yum!) . I have now added them to my list of international restaurants to try out and look up if ever I'm in paris. I have to say! I loved it very matcha! also i have to say i only assisted which mixing the batter but it was fun!

Chef Ludovic Audaux is the dessert specialist currently running the pastry and bakery operations in 15 of the outlets of the Mina Siyahi Complex including the Westin and the Meridian and has participated in various Masterchef competitions! It was exciting to watch the systematic and precise way he went about creating his vibrant and colorfully presented plate of “light vanilla panna-cotta, strawberry consommé, lemon cake and forrest berries,” a dish that refuses to say farewell to the bright energy of summer in its ending days. The least I can say is that I enjoyed it a lot!

I was happy to know that I wasn't the only foodie instagrammer/blogger invited as i chanced upon the ladies running @ieatishootipost and it felt good to not be the only person snapping away with a camera phone! I have to say this has been a good year as far as the Dubai food scene is concerned! I really believe the involvement of social media is going to be critical to guide the continuous growth and increasing eateries around D-town.
